Job summary

Firefly Aerospace is seeking a Fluids Ground Support Equipment (FGSE) Design Engineer to help develop our next generation of launch sites and production equipment. You will work in small teams on fluid system design, installation, startup, and performance analysis across multiple facilities.

Responsibilities include creating P&IDs, performing sizing calculations, and coordinating fabrication and testing. You will travel up to 30% to support GSE build and activation, with a strong emphasis on

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• Strong understanding of first-principles in fluids, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
• Direct experience with design and build of ground systems (GSE) or related fluid systems.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a high pressure, fast paced environment.
• Willingness to take extreme ownership over a large or complex system.
• Experience in aerospace, R&D, or oil & gas environments.
• Capable of balancing detailed design with project management tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design ground fluid systems, including P&IDs, tube sizing, and component specification.
• Manage fabrication, installation, checkout, and operation of systems.
• Coordinate with GSE technician team for drawings, work instructions, and scheduling.
• Provide on-site support and direction to build teams.
• Maintain knowledge of piping standards and applicable regulations.
• Lead design reviews and participate in readiness reviews.
• Perform test planning, execution, and safety-focused procedures.
• Maintain and upgrade fluid systems and preventative maintenance plans.
