Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a seasoned engineer to analyze and validate fluid systems and pressurized hardware for a range of aerospace applications. You will collaborate across teams, perform trade studies, and provide on-site technical guidance throughout design, manufacturing, and mission support.

The role emphasizes CAD/FEA proficiency (Creo/ANSYS) and hands-on testing, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and cost optimization for spaceflight hardware.

Qualifications

  • BS in engineering required.
  • 4+ years of professional engineering experience with complex fluid systems or aerospace structures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative attitude and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong desire to continuously learn and improve.
  • Ability to earn trust and contribute to an inclusive culture.
  • Experience on aircraft or launch vehicles in areas like load path distribution and strength sizing; material selection & manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience in bolted joint design and analysis.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (ASME Y14.5).
  • Proficiency with industry FEM packages: ANSYS, Nastran, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, Hypermesh, Hypersizer.
  • Structural design experience using CAD (Creo/Windchill) and hand calculations, plus FEA tools.

Responsibilities

  • Work with pressurized hardware and fluid systems.
  • Coordinate with groups to ensure systems integrate and risks are managed.
  • Perform research, develop concepts, and run trade studies.
  • Provide technical guidance for manufacturing, production, and integration activities.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams on materials, processes, and suppliers for aerospace hardware.
  • Plan, coordinate, conduct tests, and review test data.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reductions and performance improvements.
  • Interface with internal and external teams across design, manufacturing, and mission integration.
  • Resolve hardware discrepancies and present technical content to stakeholders.
  • Complete structural hand calculations and FEM analyses to report margins of safety.
