Job summary

PerkinElmer in Massachusetts is seeking an experienced Instrument Readiness Senior Specialist in Flow Core to support imaging flow cytometry and spectral flow experiments, maintain instruments, and ensure high-quality data. The role emphasizes accurate data collection, SOP compliance, and collaboration with scientists.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Amnis/ImageStream, Cytek Aurora, and Sony MA900; and can manage daily instrument work, maintenance, and training of staff.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive understanding of how flow cytometers work.
• Attention to detail and understanding of the basic laboratory environment.
• Excellent organizational skills; ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently, including identifying a problem and taking appropriate actions and knowing when to seek guidance.
• Experience independently operating Sony MA900 sorter and Thermo Fisher Spinnaker robotic arm.
• Great teamwork and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Demonstrates appropriate use of relevant equipment after training.
• Ability to work independently and lead a team.
• Strong multi-tasking, time management and organizational skills.
• Able to work a flexible schedule to meet our scientists’ needs.

Responsibilities

• Operate imaging flow cytometry (ImageStream) to execute assays and analyze data with IDEAS.
• Operate Cytek Aurora for high-parameter spectral analysis and gate with OMIQ.
• Prepare samples and support instrument optimization per SOPs.
• Perform daily instrument startup/shutdown and routine maintenance.
• Document instrument usage and manage reagents.
• Sort with Sony MA900 and assist sorting as needed.
• Support robotics systems (Spinnaker, Biosero) and train users.
• Assist gating and data analysis under supervision.
• Contribute to training of staff on flow cytometry.
