Job summary

Joby is seeking a Senior Flight Test Technical Program Manager to own the long-range flight test strategy and cross-program orchestration toward FAA certification. The role is based in Marina, CA, reporting to the PMO and collaborating with Systems TPMs, Safety, and Certification teams to keep milestones on track.

You will drive test campaigns, shape the Integrated Master Schedule, and provide executive-level risk reporting while mentoring a lean team through high-impact, safety-critical work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in development or certification flight test, ideally with large OEM and startup/R&D environments.
• Deep understanding of flight test operations, experimental aircraft programs, and certification pathways (Part 23/27/25).
• Experience establishing long-range flight test schedules and fleet resource strategy.
• Direct experience owning a flight test program’s Integrated Master Schedule strategy.
• Experience partnering with a PMO and cross-functional Technical Program Managers.
• Strong leadership and communication skills for both senior engineers and junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Own the long-range program strategy for the flight test fleet through the development and certification phase.
• Set the Integrated Master Schedule strategy across all flight test assets and align with fleet-wide program plans.
• Lead periodic risk synthesis and prioritization at the OEM level with mitigation recommendations.
• Deliver executive-level risk and schedule briefings to leadership and PMO.
• Own strategic planning for all flight test operations.
• Define and optimize long-term critical paths for flight test contributions to milestones.
• Set deployment strategy for test sites and external footprints.
• Serve as the primary flight test liaison to PMO and ensure alignment with vehicle programs.
