Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Edwards, California, seeks a Flight Test Engineer to independently analyze hazards and support mission-critical testing of military systems. You will develop test plans, review engineering analyses, and monitor real-time flight data in collaboration with government counterparts.

The role requires advanced STEM degrees and an active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) with capability to obtain SAP clearance. Occasional travel and shift coverage may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 14+ years of relevant experience, or higher degrees with required experience.
• Active DoD Secret clearance or higher (or enrollment into Continuous Evaluation).
• Ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance.
• Experience in test plan development, review and test execution.
• Experience in Mission Planning documentation and support.
• Control room experience monitoring real-time data from ground or flight testing events.
• In-depth knowledge of aircraft subsystem design and test methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Independently analyzes procedures to identify and control or eliminate hazards.
• Develops and evaluates systems and interfaces to meet safety standards.
• Applies engineering principles to investigate, plan, test, or evaluate weapons systems.
• Reviews and prepares engineering analyses, reports, and test plans.
• Reviews architecture and requirements for safety on complex hardware/software.
• Reviews Test Plans and Procedures for safety verification.
• Supports mission control room operations and data monitoring.
• Mentors and trains junior Flight Test Engineers.
• Collaborates with government counterparts on process improvement.
