Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer II to design, develop, and test flight software for our Space Systems programs. You’ll work from requirements through coding and testing, with on-orbit validation as a key milestone.

The role requires 8+ years in embedded software, strong C/C++, RTOS or Embedded Linux experience, and active Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility. You’ll join a fast-moving, mission-driven team delivering asset-rich spacecraft hardware.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C and C++ languages.
• Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI.

Responsibilities

• Develop flight software for RTOS/embedded Linux.
• Interface with IMUs, Star Trackers, reaction wheels and other sensors/actuators.
• Create and maintain unit tests within a CI framework.
• Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers to verify software/hardware functionality.
• Work with systems and embedded engineers to develop, document, and validate requirements.
• Review code changes to ensure compliance with coding standards.
• Participate in PDR and CDR design reviews.
• Assist with on-orbit flight operations.
