Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Flight Dynamics Software Engineer to build and operate microservices and data pipelines translating astrodynamics into production systems for Blue Ring spacecraft. You will collaborate with the ATX team and mission operations to keep vehicles safely on orbit.

The role requires applying technical leadership and a commitment to quality in a safety-critical environment, plus experience across the software lifecycle and diverse toolchains.

Qualifications

• B.S. or higher in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospace engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Experience across full software lifecycle: design, analysis, implementation, verification, release.
• Experience in build automation, CI, configuration management, verification, deployment.
• Proficiency in multiple languages; choose the best tool for the problem.
• Familiarity with Linux environment and basic Unix administration.
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, verify and deploy FDS microservices for orbit maintenance and collision avoidance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, architectures, and designs.
• Translate astrodynamics algorithms into production services across numerical methods and software engineering.
• Develop rapid prototypes to prove concepts and assess risks.
• Coordinate with systems and engineers to ensure safety-critical software meets standards.
• Produce documentation for architecture, verification plans, and user training.
• Follow development processes to ensure safety and reliability of software.
• Support frequent update cycles for pre-flight testing and mission validation.
• Assist in ground data system verification, validation and certification stages.
• Integrate components, develop unit and system tests, and release certified code.
• Assist in creating training materials and design/verification documentation.
