The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an Engineering Specialist – Flight Mechanics (Senior level) to join the EOFDD team. The position is hybrid with locations in El Segundo, CA; Colorado Springs, CO; Chantilly, VA; or Albuquerque, NM, requiring at least four days onsite per week when business needs allow.

Requirements include a bachelor’s in aeronautical/astronautical engineering, physics, or applied mathematics, 8+ years in flight mechanics/astrodynamics, and proficiency in C, C++, Fortran,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical/astronautical engineering, physics or applied mathematics or related discipline.
• Eight or more years of experience in flight mechanics, astrodynamics, maneuver optimization, trajectory optimization, or related fields.
• Proficiency in programming languages/environments: C, C++, Fortran, Python, Linux, and MATLAB.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance (US citizenship required).
• Willing to travel domestically ~10%.

Responsibilities

• Trajectory design and optimization for launch vehicles and spacecraft across LEO, MEO, HEO, GEO.
• Astrodynamics and orbital mechanics analysis including orbit propagation and maneuver design.
• Analyze vehicles with chemical and/or electric propulsion.
• Support customers with mission analysis and develop new flight dynamics tools.
