Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an Engineering Specialist/Senior Engineering Specialist to join the Earth Orbit Flight Dynamics Department. The role focuses on flight mechanics for launch vehicles and spacecraft, using advanced optimization, astrodynamics, and tool development to deliver solutions for national space programs.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in flight mechanics, strong programming in C/C++, Python, MATLAB, and the ability to obtain a TS clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical/astronautical engineering, physics or applied mathematics, or related disciplines.
• Eight or more years of experience in flight mechanics or related areas.
• Proficiency in C, C++, Fortran, Python, Linux and/or MATLAB.
• Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results.
• Willing to travel domestically ~10% and obtain/maintain a US security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Trajectory design and optimization for launch vehicles and spacecraft.
• Astrodynamics analysis including orbit propagation and maneuver design.
• Evaluate propulsion systems and perform mission analysis.
• Develop flight dynamics tools and integrate external software as needed.
• Collaborate with partners to deliver capable, integrated space systems.
