Otto Aerospace, Inc. seeks a senior designer to lead the design, development, and integration of the Secondary Flight Control System for modern Part 23/25 aircraft.

The role involves leading trade studies, coordinating with suppliers, and driving interface definitions to ensure compliant, efficient architecture. The candidate will develop detailed layouts, maintain ICDs, and support certification activities while mentoring junior engineers in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years in Flight Control Systems development.
• Experience with Part 23/25 certification processes and related standards.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, and integration of the Secondary Flight Control System.
• Lead trade studies to optimize architecture, weight, cost, and manufacturability.
• Coordinate with suppliers and cross-functional teams through certification.
• Create and maintain Zonal Reference Models (ZRM), Interface Control Models (ICM), and ICDs.
• Develop 3D layouts and airframe integration studies using CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE.
• Support certification and compliance documentation for the Secondary Flight Control System.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and promote best practices.
