Job summary

Planet Networks seeks a senior Fleet Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, rebuild, maintain, and repair a mixed fleet of construction and farm equipment, utility vehicles, and support vehicles. This hands-on role requires advanced experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical and electronic controls, powertrain systems, chassis repair, and metal fabrication.

Qualifications

• Expert-level experience repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining construction and farm equipment.
• Proven experience rebuilding diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, drivetrains, and major components.
• Advanced knowledge of diesel, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, electronic, and control systems.
• Strong welding and metal fabrication skills.
• Ability to independently diagnose difficult problems and perform major repairs safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics, maintenance, rebuilding, and repair on construction and farm equipment and related vehicles.
• Rebuild and overhaul diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, axles, drivetrains, and major components.
• Diagnose and repair chassis, steering, suspension, braking, cooling, fuel, exhaust, and powertrain systems.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic systems including pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, hoses, and PTO systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and control-system issues involving wiring and control modules.
• Weld, cut, fabricate, and repair components and chassis per safety standards.
• Service a range of equipment including excavators, skid steers, trenchers, tractors, bucket trucks, and more.
• Use diagnostic software, scan tools, meters, and gauges to identify root causes and verify repairs.
• Respond to breakdowns and perform shop or field repairs as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to preempt failures.
• Identify safety concerns and remove unsafe equipment from service until repaired.
• Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and manufacturer specs.
• Maintain records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and parts usage.
• Coordinate with operators, supervisors, parts suppliers, and service providers as needed.
