The Fleet Mechanic for the Chelsea location is responsible for the complete oversight and execution of all maintenance and repair activities for a fleet of twelve (12) Class 8 tractors and thirteen (13) MC406 petroleum tank trailers. This is a hands-on, self-directed position requiring an experienced individual who can independently manage all aspects of the maintenance shop while ensuring fleet safety, reliability, regulatory compliance, and maximum equipment uptime
Daily interaction with driver managers, drivers, outside vendors, logistics team, fleet technicians and management personnel
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Graduate of a Technical Institute with primary focus in diesel engine repair.
ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certification. DOT Inspector Certification (preferred). Brake Inspector Certification. Tank Trailer Maintenance or Inspection Certification (preferred). Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, problem solving and decision-making skills. Strong organizational and time management skills.
Occasional travel to other company maintenance facilities for training or coverage
Four-day, ten-hour shift schedule to include one weekend day. Holidays required when falling on a scheduled workday
Walk/stand on concrete. Bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to repair units. Reach below and above shoulder height to repair units. Use of hand power and air tools is required. Climb, stand and balance on ladders or units to perform repairs. Insert hands into confined areas to repair units. Work above shoulders in cervical extension from stand, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel. Work under units while they are on hoist or shop floor. Able to lift 75lbs.
