Job summary

Columbus Consolidated Government maintains and repairs the city’s fleet of public transportation vehicles and equipment. The role performs repairs to all fleet vehicles and conducts preventive maintenance, testing vehicle operation and ensuring safety standards.

Responsibilities include inspecting transit coaches and support vehicles, repairing brakes, HVAC, electrical systems, and engines, preparing coaches for quality control inspections, and documenting work orders with labor and parts used.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair practices.
• Knowledge of safety precautions and ability to read electrical schematics and flowcharts.
• Experience with brakes, HVAC, wheelchair lifts, fareboxes, electrical and fuel systems, engines, generators, transmissions.
• Ability to operate computers and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs to all fleet vehicles and preventive maintenance.
• Inspect, diagnose, and analyze transit coaches and support vehicles.
• Test drive buses after maintenance to verify proper operation.
• Prepare coaches for quality control inspections and document work orders.
