Job summary

Washington State Patrol is seeking an Equipment Technician to inspect police fleet vehicles and equipment, diagnose problems, and perform major and preventive maintenance to keep vehicles safe and operational throughout their life cycle. You will work with a team of specialists and interact with vehicle custodians and supervisors to ensure timely repairs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, diagnoses and makes necessary repairs/adjustments to police vehicles and equipment.
  • Performs major engine overhauls, oil changes, tune ups and brake system overhauls.
  • Repairs and maintains steering, suspension, tires, transmissions and differential gears.
  • Repairs and maintains motorcycles and performs preventative maintenance with related training as needed.
  • Uses a computer to enter and maintain vehicle records and work orders; communicates repair needs to custodians and supervisors.
