Job summary

Zoox is seeking an experienced Senior Diagnostics Engineer in California to own the fleet diagnostics lifecycle from requirements through release, collaborating with system, firmware, and software teams.

You will drive quality improvements, reduce time-to-diagnose, and develop prognostics from fleet telemetry to cut unplanned downtime. Expect cross-functional leadership and data-driven optimization across the diagnostic lifecycle.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in EE/ME/Systems/CE/CS
• 10+ years in vehicle or system diagnostics
• Experience improving diagnostic quality with field data
• Experience with CAN/CAN-FD/LIN/Automotive Ethernet and UDS/ISO 14229/OBD
• Familiarity with ISO 26262 or equivalent
• Hands-on data analysis with fleet data (Python/SQL)
• Experience defining service procedures with service/field teams

Responsibilities

• Own diagnostic deployment for current service fleet from requirements to release.
• Improve diagnostic quality to reduce time-to-diagnose and enhance fault isolation.
• Close end-to-end diagnostic gaps with traceability from requirements to in-fleet performance, lead reviews.
• Define and deploy service actions tied to diagnostic outcomes with verified repairs.
• Develop prognostic features from fleet telemetry to reduce downtime.
• Develop metrics to measure diagnostic success and drive lifecycle improvements.
