Job summary

STG Logistics in Illinois seeks a Senior Fixed Asset Accountant to own the company’s fixed asset and lease accounting. You will maintain accuracy of the financials, drive process improvements, and support internal controls and audits.

The role requires 3+ years of accounting experience with fixed assets or leases, strong Excel skills, and GAAP knowledge. CPA preferred. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper accounting treatments and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
• 3+ years of accounting or relevant experience; fixed asset or lease accounting preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• Working knowledge of fixed asset accounting, ASC 842 lease accounting, and capitalization of internally developed software (ASC 350-40).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn new systems.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
• Intellectual curiosity and a habit of asking questions to understand accounting issues and processes.
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills with team members at all levels.
• Ability to work independently, manage time, and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain fixed asset and lease subledgers with proper capitalization and dispositions.
• Post monthly depreciation and lease amortization entries.
• Reconcile asset/lease subledgers to the general ledger and resolve differences.
• Track construction in progress and internally developed software for capital projects.
• Determine accounting for new/modified leases under ASC 842, including classification.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and strengthen internal controls.
• Complete all GL close tasks accurately for period-, quarter-, and year-end close.
• Develop processes to shorten the close cycle without sacrificing quality.
• Research new accounting standards and explain implications for business processes.
• Partner cross-functionally on projects and ad hoc assignments.
• Analyze fixed assets, depreciation, and lease activity; explain variances to management.
• Assist with annual external audit and financial reporting.
