Job summary

Helmerich & Payne, Inc. in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Senior Accountant – Fixed Assets to maintain the fixed asset subledger, assure GAAP compliance, and drive process improvements across accounting for capital expenditures.

You will collaborate with project teams and finance to ensure accurate capitalization, depreciation, and asset classifications. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in fixed assets accounting, strong GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills, with ERP/Oracle experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and fixed asset accounting principles.
• Experience with ERP systems; Oracle experience preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Demonstrated experience with process improvement, automation initiatives, or technology-driven accounting solutions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the fixed asset subledger, ensuring accurate capitalization, depreciation, transfers, retirements, and disposals.
• Reconcile the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger and ensure the accuracy and completeness of fixed asset balances.
• Partner closely with project managers and business stakeholders to monitor capital project costs and ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries, account reconciliations, schedules, and supporting analyses related to fixed assets and capital expenditures.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and Company policies related to capitalization thresholds, asset classifications, useful lives, and depreciation methodologies.
• Maintain fixed asset accounting procedures, narratives, internal controls, and supporting documentation.
• Support internal and external audit requests and provide timely, accurate information related to fixed assets and capital projects.
• Develop ad hoc reports and perform financial analyses, including trend analysis, interpretation of results, and recommendations for management decision-making.
