Job summary

Virginia Tech's Finance team in Blacksburg is seeking a Fiscal Technician Senior to support Health and Wellness programs within Student Affairs. The role reports to the Business Manager and is a regular twelve-month University Staff appointment.

Responsibilities include purchasing, travel arrangements and reimbursements, monthly reconciliations, encumbrance management, ad hoc financial reporting, wage payroll tracking, and records retention, plus fixed assets coordination.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in accounting/finance.
• Prior experience in fiscal and HR duties in a professional setting.
• Experience with purchasing, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Strong problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and with a team with high accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Provide financial services such as purchasing, travel arrangements and travel reimbursements.
• Handle monthly reconciliations and monitor encumbrances.
• Produce and analyze ad hoc financial reports.
• Manage wage payroll and tracking.
• Coordinate fixed assets and surplus property.
• Maintain records retention and related duties as assigned.
