Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer for a long-term contract in Schaumburg, IL, onsite four days a week. You will develop, deploy, and troubleshoot production firmware across multiple embedded product platforms.

The role requires Rust and C expertise, Python for testing and tooling, BLE, RTOS, and experience with constrained microcontrollers. You will collaborate with hardware and software teams and own firmware initiatives from troubleshooting to delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience developing firmware released to production products.
• Proficiency in Rust and C with strong Rust preferred.
• Python for testing, automation, and tooling.
• Embedded C on constrained MCUs with RTOS (FreeRTOS).
• BLE knowledge including GATT, advertising, pairing.
• Hardware debugging with SWD, scopes, and logic analyzers.
• Ability to isolate firmware/hardware/communication issues.
• Ability to read datasheets and device errata independently.
• Git-based development with PR workflows and submodules.
• Capable of owning projects from debugging to delivery.
• Collaborate with EE, QA, software, and vendors.
• Experience with firmware release and manufacturing tests.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Willing to complete a focused technical assessment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, deploy, and troubleshoot production firmware across embedded platforms.
• Own firmware initiatives from troubleshooting through delivery with limited oversight.
• Collaborate with electrical engineering, QA, software, and external vendors.
• Work within firmware release and manufacturing-test processes.
• Diagnose issues across firmware, hardware, and communications paths.
