Job summary

Arrive AI Inc. in Fishers, IN is hiring an Electrical Engineer – Firmware to own low-level software for next-generation autonomous delivery hardware. You’ll write firmware for on-board subsystems, work with EE designers, and shepherd designs from first power-on through validated operation.

The embedded stack uses Rust; prior Rust is welcome but not required. Strong C/C++ and RTOS experience, and a track record debugging firmware on real hardware are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
• 5+ years of professional firmware experience for embedded systems
• Deep proficiency in C/C++ for resource-constrained targets
• Hands-on experience with RTOS (Zephyr, FreeRTOS, ThreadX) and/or bare-metal
• Experience designing/maintaining hardware abstraction layers
• Fluency with UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet
• Ability to work independently from datasheets and reference manuals
• Experience with PCB/board design in addition to firmware

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain firmware for microcontroller-based subsystems across multiple programs
• Create and manage hardware abstraction layers
• Write device drivers for sensors, actuators, motor controllers, power management, and peripherals
• Design RTOS task structures and IPC for real-time behavior
• Take new PCB designs from first power-on through validation
• Collaborate with EE during design reviews
• Build bench tooling and test fixtures to speed prototyping
• Provide debugging and fault analysis on real hardware
• Define interfaces between firmware and platform/edge/cloud layers
• Mentor teammates in embedded practices
• Develop firmware test plans (unit/integration/HIL)
• Improve observability with logging and telemetry
• Document firmware architecture and bring-up procedures
• Help establish repeatable build/flash/provisioning processes
