Butler America Aerospace, LLC. is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to contribute to the ART Microelectronics Technology team in Cedar Rapids.

You will design, implement, verify, and integrate high-performance FPGA-based hardware for defense applications, aligning with DO-254 DAL A requirements. You'll collaborate across systems, software, and certification authorities, manage hardware requirements in DOORS, and document decisions with traceability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science field required.
• Experience with FPGA development and DO-254 DAL A is required.
• Proven ability to plan verification, perform testing, and qualify tools.

Responsibilities

• Requirements Management: develop and maintain hardware requirements with traceability to system-level requirements.
• Design and Implementation: create complex hardware designs, often with FPGAs, to meet DAL A objectives.
• Verification and Validation: rigorous verification activities to prove hardware meets requirements.
• Tool Assessment: qualify design and verification tools to avoid errors, especially for Level A hardware.
• Documentation and Compliance: maintain detailed design decisions and traceability matrices for authorities.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with systems engineers, software teams, and cert authorities.
