Job summary

Quest Defense Systems and Solutions seeks an FPGA/Firmware Engineer in Cedar Rapids, IA to develop and verify complex FPGA solutions for safety-critical aerospace systems. You’ll work with hardware, software, and systems engineers from requirements through hardware validation.

The role emphasizes DO-254 DAL A processes, RTL development in VHDL/Verilog, and tool-assisted verification. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years FPGA experience with VHDL/Verilog.
• Experience in DO-254 DAL A lifecycle and DOORS tracing.
• Experience with RTL verification and tool suites ModelSim, Synplify, Vivado.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement complex FPGA solutions in VHDL/Verilog for safety-critical aerospace applications in DO-254 DAL A processes.
• Develop, review, and maintain hardware requirements and bidirectional traceability using DOORS.
• Define digital circuit architectures and evaluate performance, timing, and FPGA resource tradeoffs.
• Perform RTL simulation, synthesis, place-and-route, timing analysis, and timing closure with ModelSim, Synplify, and Vivado.
• Develop verification plans, testbenches, and tests using VHDL or SystemVerilog.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, systems, and test engineering teams throughout the lifecycle.
