Job summary

Acron Aviation is seeking an early- to mid-career Firmware Engineer to join our surveillance hardware team. You will design, develop, verify, and maintain safety-critical firmware for avionics and embedded TCAS/transponder systems in line with DO-254 standards.

You'll collaborate with hardware, systems, and certification teams to ensure robust design assurance throughout the product lifecycle, including RF and FPGA aspects for FAA/EASA-certified aerospace systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering required.
• 4–9 years of relevant experience; Graduate Degree with 5+ years preferred.
• Experience with FPGA and firmware design for avionics.
• Hands-on experience with RF or sensors is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain FPGA-based hardware solutions.
• Develop and verify FPGA designs using VHDL/Verilog.
• Perform simulation, debugging, and validation for functional and performance requirements.
• Apply DO-254 processes and certification practices throughout the lifecycle.
• Create and maintain design documentation (HRDs, HDDs, HCIs).
• Prepare certification documentation (PHAC and related deliverables).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, software, and QA.
• Engage with customers to understand requirements and propose solutions.
• Present technical information clearly in written and verbal forms.
• Travel up to 10% as required.
