Job summary

Antares seeks a Senior Firmware Engineer to build embedded software enabling our microreactor hardware to operate in real time. The role interfaces with custom electronics, sensors, actuators, and control infrastructure, ensuring safe, reliable operation from bring-up through qualification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field.
• 5+ years of production software for hardware-integrated systems (C/C++, Python, Rust).
• Experience with multi-threaded/IPC, distributed or embedded software.
• Experience integrating software with sensors, controllers, and hardware I/O.
• Strong debugging across software, hardware, and system boundaries.
• Ability to design clear interfaces, data models, and state machines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain firmware for reactor instrumentation and control.
• Develop embedded software in C/C++ for microcontrollers and real-time hardware.
• Bring up new hardware and validate firmware with lab equipment.
• Implement interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, and RS-485.
• Develop firmware for sensor acquisition, telemetry, and fault detection.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers on schematics and board design.
• Ensure firmware supports safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and maintain testable, traceable firmware.
• Support HIL testing, automated tests, data acquisition, and integration campaigns.
• Develop firmware test plans and configuration-controlled release documentation.
• Analyze failure modes, define safe states, and drive root-cause investigations.
