Job summary

Chariot Defense Inc. in San Bruno, CA is seeking a Firmware & Embedded Controls Engineer to own the low-level software that commands power electronics, enforces safety systems, and keeps hardware reliable in the field.

You will write code that runs on bare metal and RTOS in C and Rust, shaping the firmware architecture for Amphora and future products. This onsite role requires hands-on experience with power electronics, thermal management, real-time constraints, and close collaboration with

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years writing firmware for hardware that ships and runs in the field.
• Hands-on bare-metal and RTOS development.
• Fluency in C/C++ for resource-constrained, real-time targets.
• Demonstrated experience bringing up and debugging firmware on real hardware.

Responsibilities

• Power electronics control: firmware for inverters, chargers, and battery systems.
• Safety systems: real-time fault-detection and protection logic.
• Thermal control: keep power components within safe operating temperatures.
• Data acquisition & telemetry: collect sensor readings and export data for monitoring.
• User input & system interaction: implement operator interfaces for field use.
• Bare-metal and RTOS development: architect and deploy firmware across targets.
• Cross-functional integration: work with electrical and hardware engineers during bring-up and debugging.
