Job summary

Chariot Defense is seeking a Test Engineer in San Bruno, CA to own hardware validation across power systems, from components to full Amphora platforms. You will build test infrastructure, write plans, and validate performance under environmental and operational conditions.

You will collaborate with firmware and design teams, develop automated test equipment, and contribute to a robust test lab infrastructure. On-site role with high impact and ownership.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on hardware test and validation experience in electronics/power systems.
• Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) development or test station development.
• Proficiency with Python, LabVIEW or similar automation platforms.
• Familiarity with CAN, SPI, I2C, UART protocols for test/debug.
• Experience working with high-voltage systems and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, instrument, and automate test equipment for hardware validation across electrical, mechanical, thermal, and environmental dimensions.
• Execute component, subsystem, and system-level validation including high-voltage tests and fault injection.
• Develop environmental test programs per MIL/specs and automotive standards.
• Collaborate with firmware engineers to validate control logic and power management.
• Interface with design engineers to identify failure modes and drive design changes.
• Build and maintain DAQ systems and data pipelines in Python, LabVIEW, or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Support HIL/SIL validation and correlate bench tests with simulations.
