Peraton is hiring an experienced Network Security Engineer (Firewall & Vulnerability Management) to drive security improvements across federal programs. Hybrid work in Washington, DC with on-site Mon-Wed and up to two remote days weekly.

The role requires hands-on engineering across vulnerability management, patching, firewall security, IAM, and cloud security, aligned with NIST RMF and IRS Pub 1075. Strong documentation skills and independent delivery are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 12 years of relevant experience; 4 years can substitute.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on enterprise cybersecurity experience.
• Experience configuring, implementing, and validating security controls.
• Ability to independently drive technical security improvements in production.

Responsabilités

• Lead vulnerability remediation governance, SLA targets, and escalation workflows.
• Configure Nessus; close coverage gaps across on-prem, cloud, and VDI.
• Correlate findings with SIEM tools (Sentinel, Varonis, Splunk).
• Implement security hardening, patching plans, and change controls.
• Deliver runbooks, SOPs, and technical documentation; report weekly.
• Support firewall, IAM, endpoint, and cloud security engineering activities.
