Job summary

Tampa Electric Company is seeking a Firewall Engineer with a focus on Checkpoint & VPN to design, implement, and manage secure network infrastructures at the Bearss Operations Center in Florida. This role requires hands-on expertise with Palo Alto firewalls, VPN technologies, high availability, and compliance with industry standards.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of related experience, strong collaboration with security and networking teams, and the ability to support large enterprise

Qualifications

• Minimum four (4) years of hands-on experience with Windows, VMware, firewall support, VPNs, proxies, WAFs.
• Experience designing and supporting VPN solutions in large enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards (NERC CIP, SOX, PCI) and security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and implement network, server, and storage infrastructure per project requirements.
• Provide security consulting and support across multiple platforms (firewalls, proxies, WAFs, NAC, load balancers).
• Install and support network, server, and storage hardware and software to meet security standards.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and ensure compliance with policies.
• Lead or contribute to projects involving VPN, SD‑WAN, and perimeter security technologies.
