Job summary

City of Sacramento seeks a Senior Evidence and Property Technician to lead the receipt, storage and security of evidence and property for the Police Department. You will supervise technicians, maintain chain-of-custody records, and ensure lawful release and disposal of property in accordance with laws.

The role requires strong judgment, clear communication, and the ability to train and mentor staff while handling sensitive materials and testifying in court as needed.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience comparable to the Evidence and Property Technician in the City of Sacramento.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the receipt, storage, documentation, and security of evidence and property.
• Train, mentor, and provide technical supervision to Evidence and Property Technicians.
• Coordinate the release, destruction, or disposition of evidence and property in compliance with laws and policies.
• Maintain and review chain of custody records and resolve discrepancies.
• Testify in courts regarding chain of custody and storage of evidence.
