Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a seasoned Secondary Firearms Instructor (SFI) to support FFDO requalification sessions and ensure safety at our firearms training range. The role emphasizes professional instruction, adherence to procedures, and the ability to work with diverse learners.

The SFI will communicate training concepts effectively, follow established SOPs, and maintain security protocols, enabling career growth within a dynamic federal contractor environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of formal experience as an instructor in firearms, defensive tactics, and use of force.
• Current or former certified law enforcement official or civilian with a completed firearms training program.
• Associates Degree or equivalent education/training.
• Must comply with all Federal, state, and local requirements.
• Must pass a background investigation clearance prior to starting.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Firearms Instructor during FFDO Requalification Training sessions, assisting with preparation, completion, and post-session cleanup.
• Ensure student safety during dry-fire and live-fire training venues.
• Provide one-on-one instruction to students during the pre-qualification warm-up and remedial training as designated.
• Communicate law enforcement training concepts clearly to diverse audiences and instruct in adult education principles.
• Interpret and adhere to program policies, SOPs, and lesson plans.
• Maintain SSI and SPII security in accordance with TSA policies.
