Job summary

GDIT in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Lead Firearms Instructor (LFI) to manage on-site training for FFDOs, deliver TSA-approved instruction, and ensure safety and proper handling of weapons during requalification sessions.

The LFI will verify weapons and credentials, supervise ranges and data collection, and certify qualification scores while maintaining SSI/SPII security and compliance with TSA policies.

Qualifications

• Current or former federal law enforcement agent, officer, or civilian employee having completed a recognized federal firearms instructor training program deemed acceptable by the TSA/FAMS.
• 5 years of firearms training experience.
• Associates Degree or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work/military experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead Firearms Instructors (LFIs) are the first point of contact at the training venue for Federal Flight Deck Officers (FFDO) and act as on-site training manager.
• Deliver the approved TSA training and safety brief, manage equipment and new gear introductions, and ensure students understand the safety briefing.
• Verify weapons and credentials before training, maintain instructor/student ratios, and secure SSI/SPII information during sessions.
