Qualifications

Two years performing fire safety inspections, building construction inspections, or plans examination.
Associate's degree in fire protection or building construction technology may substitute for one year of experience.
Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
Knowledge of codes, fire protection systems, and life-safety requirements.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and prepare reports.

Responsibilities

Review building and site plans and advise on code compliance and fire protection measures.
Study plans to ensure conformance with fire codes and life-safety requirements.
Review fire system plans and determine water requirements for protection.
Conduct inspections and investigations related to fire codes.
Coordinate plan checking with other departments and stakeholders.
