Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to design and review fire protection and life safety systems for a variety of projects. You’ll produce sprinkler, smoke/ventilation, water supply, and alarm system designs and perform life safety analyses for compliance with NFPA/UFC and other codes.

The position supports a hybrid work model with options across several office locations and travel as required. A PE license and 7+ years of related experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• At least 7 years of related engineering experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection engineering designs including sprinkler and alarm systems.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects, ensuring life safety analyses.
• Review designs for compliance with NFPA/UFC and local codes.
• Collaborate with sales to prepare proposals and client reviews.
• Mentor junior staff and supervise engineers on projects.
• Perform site assessments and attend meetings/conferences.
