Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to design and review fire protection systems for federal and commercial projects. You will develop hydraulics, sprinklers, and fire alarm layouts, acting as QFPE to ensure life safety and compliance with NFPA and UFC codes.

You will collaborate with sales to prepare proposals, meet with clients, and mentor junior engineers. A hybrid work model allows some remote work with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• PE license and 7+ years of related experience.
• Domestic/international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection designs, including water supply, hydraulics and sprinkler systems.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects; perform life safety analyses.
• Review designs for compliance with NFPA, UFC and local codes.
• Prepare proposals with sales staff and meet with clients.
• Mentor junior staff and oversee project work.
