Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our growing North America Fire Protection Engineering Team. You will work independently on large projects of high complexity and lead teams through all phases of a project lifecycle.

You will review codes, design fire suppression/alarms, prepare reports, and mentor staff. A PE license and 10+ years’ experience are preferred; familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Fire Protection Engineering or related discipline.
• Master’s in Fire Protection preferred, but not required.
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in fire protection is preferred for federal projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead large projects of high complexity.
• Conduct building/fire/life safety code reviews and analyses.
• Prepare and present technical reports and presentations.
• Engage in design development through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, etc.
• Lead project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in client meetings, value analysis, and cost estimating.
• Provide supervision and mentoring to staff to strengthen technical abilities.
• Perform QA/QC on projects and peers.
• Assist in developing new standards and specifications for the fire group.
• Develop project scope, budget, and design approach.
• Assist with business development activities and proposals.
• Oversee and manage multiple concurrent projects.
