Job summary

DLR Group is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to lead fire protection design across multiple sectors. You will guide the design of fire protection systems, collaborate with mechanical engineering, and develop drawings and calculations.

Applicants should have a PE license, 7+ years of experience, and strong knowledge of IBC/IFC/NFPA codes. The role involves client coordination, project leadership, and potential business development responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience designing and analyzing fire protection systems.
• Active Fire Protection PE licensure.
• Experience with new construction and renovations of fire protection systems.
• Strong knowledge of IBC, IFC, and NFPA codes and standards.
• Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead fire protection engineering teams across regions with technical leadership and mentorship.
• Manage planning, execution, and delivery of fire protection design services firmwide.
• Develop scopes of work, budgets, proposals, and design strategies across projects.
• Prepare and review fire and life safety analyses and code compliance reviews (IBC/IFC/NFPA).
• Oversee production and coordination of construction documents, reports, specifications, and plans.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, vendors, and AHJs for permitting and approvals.
• Lead construction administration activities including submittals and site visits.
• Support business development through client relationships and proposals.
