DLR Group is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to lead design efforts from schematic through construction administration across Federal, K-12, Healthcare, Higher Education, and Civic sectors.

You will collaborate with the mechanical engineering team to produce drawings, perform calculations, and ensure coordination with disciplines for high‑quality, performance‑driven building solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in designing and analyzing fire protection systems.
• Active Fire Protection PE licensure is required.
• Experience with new construction and retrofit projects.
• Strong knowledge of IBC, IFC, and NFPA codes/standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication across teams and stakeholders.

Responsabilités

• Lead fire protection engineering teams across regions with technical leadership and mentorship.
• Plan, execute, and deliver fire protection design services to budgets and schedules.
• Develop scopes of work, budgets, proposals, and design strategies for diverse projects.
• Prepare and review fire/life safety analyses and code compliance reviews.
• Oversee preparation of construction documents, reports, specs, and reviews.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, AHJs, vendors for permitting and approvals.
• Lead construction administration activities including submittals and site visits.
• Support business development through client relations and proposals.
