Job summary

Crawford & Company is seeking a Fire Investigator to determine origin and cause of fires and explosions, reporting findings clearly in written reports. The role requires hands-on field work, travel as needed, and the ability to testify when necessary.

Ideal candidates have extensive investigation experience, relevant certifications, and a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including remote work options and home office setup. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher commensurate with duties; experience may be accepted to meet standards.
• Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
• CFEI (NAFI) or CFI (IAAI) certification required or preferred.
• Must be familiar with NFPA 921 and NFPA 1033 qualification.
• 10 years fire investigation experience in origin and cause.
• Previous expert testimony or deposition experience preferred but not required.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to deliver fast turnaround.
• Willing to travel and work flexible hours; remote work possible.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform all required analysis to determine the cause and origin of fires/explosions.
• Convey findings clearly in written reports.
• Defend opinions in court when necessary.
• Complete required corporate training and development programs.
• Mentor and train subordinate investigators.
