Job summary

National Fire Experts in New Orleans, LA, seeks a Part-Time Fire Investigator to conduct cause-and-origin analyses at fire and explosion scenes. You will prepare clear written reports, interact with clients, and, when needed, provide expert testimony.

The role requires travel and a flexible schedule, with remote work options and strong emphasis on safety and ethics. Qualified candidates have CFEI or CFI credentials, NFPA 921/1033 familiarity, good organizational skills, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Must have CFEI certification through NAFI, or CFI certification through IAAI (preferred).
• Must obtain Private Investigator License within 60 days where assigned.
• Must be familiar with NFPA 921 and NFPA 1033 standards.
• Two years of hands-on fire origin and cause investigations experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Timely field visits to loss sites to conduct cause and origin investigations.
• Provide honest, unbiased analysis and consultation on fires and explosions.
• Field studies and research on a daily basis.
• Travel within a 100-mile radius for investigations; occasional overnight travel possible.
• Write and submit detailed and accurate reports timely per guidelines.
• Communicate timelines and project updates to customers consistently.
• Provide expert testimony or depositions when required.
• Support flexible scheduling during peak periods.
• Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
