Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Five years of fire safety inspection experience.
• Fire Inspector III certification (NFPA 1031).
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience with plan reviews, on-site assessments, and resolving code violations.
• Ability to perform and document complex fire code inspections.

Responsibilities

• Conducts fire and life safety inspections of occupancy classes as prescribed in the county codes, ensuring compliance with minimum fire code and life safety regulations.
• Reviews occupancy for consistency with code and protective requirements.
• Investigates citizen complaints and identifies problems to determine citations or corrections.
• Trains, leads, and supervises subordinate Fire Inspectors.
• Leads team in follow-up and re-inspections within specified time frames.
• Coordinates all County Inspectional Programs and attends trainings to maintain proficiency.
