Envista Forensics in Northern California seeks a part-time Fire & Explosion Investigator with 5+ years of field experience and a CFI. You will analyze origins, collect evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare clear reports for clients and stakeholders.

Ideal candidates hold IAAI CFI (or can obtain within 6 months), NAFI-CFEI, and a BS in a relevant field; travel and a collaborative, results-driven culture are expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fire investigator experience (public/private)
• IAAI CFI required or obtainable within 6 months
• NAFI-CFEI certification
• Bondable and licensed per jurisdiction
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to work in catastrophic environments and travel as needed
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in a work capacity

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of fire and explosion events per NFPA 921/1033
• Collects evidence and documents scenes per NFPA 921/1033
• Photographs sites and preserves evidence for evaluation
• Interviews witnesses and canvasses neighborhoods for statements
• Analyzes compliance with fire suppression/detection systems
• Prepares concise reports and correspondence for clients
• Works with multi-disciplinary teams on complex assignments
• Maintains relationships with clients and consultants
