Job summary

Envista Forensics seeks a part-time Fire & Explosion Investigator in the Los Angeles area. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of investigative experience, an IAAI CFI or ability to obtain within 6 months, and NAFI-CFEI certification.

You will collect evidence, interview witnesses, and collaborate with teams to determine causes and prepare client reports. Requires a BS degree preference and the ability to work in challenging environments, including post-disaster scenes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fire investigator experience (public/private mix welcomed).
• IAAI CFI required or obtainable within 6 months of hire.
• NAFI‑CFEI certification.
• Bondable and eligible for required private investigator licensing.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of fire/explosion in various sites per NFPA 921/1033.
• Collects evidence and documents scenes; photographs and preserves items.
• Interviews witnesses and canvasses neighborhoods for statements.
• Analyzes code compliance of fire suppression/detection systems.
• Prepares clear reports outlining damage origin and cause for clients.
• Collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams on large assignments.
