Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking a Senior Fire Alarm System Designer to design and engineer fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA codes and project specifications. This role leads design efforts, reviews product specs, and interfaces with CAD operators, project managers, and sales to ensure timely, high-quality submittals.

Ideal candidates will have manufacturer training, in-house training, and on-the-job experience, with strong leadership, code knowledge, AutoCAD proficiency, and the

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years designing commercial fire detection systems.
• Strong knowledge of fire alarm codes and operations.
• Experience reading and interpreting project drawings.
• Ability to lead design teams and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Review bid/pre-award documents.
• Conduct onsite surveys of existing conditions affecting Low Voltage System designs.
• Submit/track post-award design RFIs during design-build.
• Attend weekly design meetings (virtual and in-person).
• Develop BOs and modify specifications for project needs.
• Collaborate with architects/engineers and other design disciplines.
• Work with drafters to develop submittal/design packages.
• Ensure milestones and deadlines are met for design and submittals.
• Review QC submittals and design deliverables.
• Provide responses to Govt/FPE review comments.
• Communicate with Project Managers on design approval.
• Schedule pre-construction Job Review meetings with PM and Sales.
• Coordinate with outsource designers and subcontractors.
• Order all material/equipment.
• Support Project Manager during construction for design issues.
