Job summary

Clera is seeking an experienced backend engineer to build and scale accounting and financial workflow systems for a growing fintech platform. You will own end-to-end accounting integration projects and deliver reliable, scalable services while collaborating with product, design, operations, and external partners.

The role emphasizes translating business problems into durable technical solutions, deep domain knowledge in fintech, and end-to-end project ownership in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5 to 10 or more years of experience building production backend systems, APIs, services, or distributed systems.
• Experience collaborating across technical and non-technical teams, including external partners.
• Background in fintech, accounting, payroll, payments, banking, or complex integrations is valuable.
• Experience with Python, Go, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, or GCP is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Own accounting integration projects from problem definition and design through launch and operation.
• Build reliable, scalable backend services for accounting and financial workflows and support expansion.
• Translate ambiguous problems into simple, durable technical solutions.
• Learn customers' accounting needs and apply context to product and engineering decisions.
• Partner with Product, Design, Operations, Compliance, and external providers on complex initiatives.
• Balance fast delivery with reliability for financial workflows and money movement.
• Raise engineering quality through communication, system design, code quality, and mentorship.
