Job summary

KCS IT is seeking a Senior FinOps Technical Expert in Lisbon, Portugal, with hybrid work on-site two days per week. You will advise product teams on cloud architecture and cost optimization, focusing on Azure and multi-cloud environments, translating usage data into actionable strategies while ensuring performance and service quality.

Responsibilities include budgeting support, visibility improvements, and governance across product lines, using IBM Cloudability and Power BI.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of IT and Cloud Operations experience.
• Strong technical expertise in cloud environments.
• Proven FinOps, cloud cost management, and cloud financial optimization experience.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience analyzing cloud consumption and identifying cost optimization opportunities.
• Knowledge of cloud architecture, infrastructure sizing, resource allocation, and cost-efficient design.
• Experience with cloud budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, financial governance, and optimization targets.
• Ability to technically challenge infrastructure and architectural decisions while maintaining performance and service quality.
• Experience supporting cost optimization initiatives with engineering, architecture, and product teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and consulting skills.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn cloud cost data into actionable insights.
• Proactive and consultative mindset with technical, product management, and business awareness.
• Degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional fluency in English.
• Relevant cloud provider certifications, including Azure, AWS, and/or FinOps Foundation

Responsibilities

• Advise on cloud architecture, infrastructure decisions, and cost optimization opportunities.
• Analyse cloud usage and spending across Azure and other cloud platforms to improve cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to implement cost-effective solutions without impacting service quality.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cost optimization targets, and product finance processes.
• Improve cost visibility through reporting, dashboards, cost tracking, and financial accountability.
• Present findings and recommendations to technical teams, product stakeholders, and senior management.
• Use IBM Cloudability and Power BI to support cost monitoring, reporting, and optimization.
• Implement FinOps policies and governance frameworks aligned with organizational standards.
• Support product management, cost allocation, and recharging mechanisms across application product lines.
• Monitor cloud pricing trends, evaluate new platform capabilities, and recommend improvements to cloud financial management practices.
