Job summary

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Financial Systems Engineer. This senior role leads the engineering management, support, and evolution of our core financial and practice management systems across the U.S., with preferred location in Wheeling, WV, and consideration for 100% remote US locations.

The engineer will administer SQL Server databases, develop and optimize queries, support integrations, and ensure data integrity while collaborating with Finance, IT, and business

Qualifications

• Financial Systems Expertise: expert-level hands-on admin, configuration, and support.
• SQL Server: solid SQL, data integrity, reporting needs; familiarity with SSIS/SSRS.
• Windows Server: administration of enterprise Windows Server environments, including IIS and AD.
• Client/Server & SaaS: experience with both architectures, cloud-hosted solutions.
• APIs & Integration: REST APIs and integration techniques (middleware, ETL) for data exchange.
• Communication & Collaboration: strong written and verbal skills with stakeholders.
• Analytical & Problem-Solving: troubleshoot across app, DB, and server layers.
• On-Call Availability: after-hours rotation; occasional evenings/weekends.
• Education: Bachelor's in CS/IS/Finance or related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering management, support, and evolution of core financial and practice management systems.
• Administer, maintain, and optimize modules (billing, GL, time entry, trust accounting, purchasing).
• Maintain security, access controls, and data governance for users.
• Monitor jobs, interfaces, and system health; coordinate timely resolution of issues.
• Provide advanced technical and functional end-user support (Finance staff, attorneys).
• Design, build, and maintain integrations between financial systems and enterprise apps using REST, ETL.
• Manage Windows Server environments (IIS, PowerShell, AD); document configurations and runbooks.
• Support change-control processes and CAB discussions; liaison between Finance/IT and stakeholders.
