Job summary

Covista in Chicago seeks a Senior Financial Systems Analyst to lead automation and data transformation across Finance systems. You will own journal entries workflows, reporting, and data quality initiatives with strong collaboration across Accounting, FP&A, and IT.

The role emphasizes independence, complex problem-solving, and scalable solutions, including VBA to Python modernization and Power BI reporting support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years experience in Financial Systems, Finance Technology, Accounting Systems, FP&A Systems, or related role.
• Hands-on experience with workflow automation tools such as Alteryx or similar platforms for data preparation, reporting, and automation.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with SQL Server and Google BigQuery.
• Working knowledge of Lawson, IBM Planning Analytics / TM1, BlackLine, and related finance tools.
• Experience supporting reporting, data validation, and analytics including Power BI.
• Knowledge of VBA, Python, or similar scripting languages.
• Strong understanding of Accounting/Finance processes and independent work style.
• Strong communication, documentation, problem-solving, and stakeholder skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to eliminate, simplify, automate, and optimize Finance and Accounting processes across the financial systems ecosystem.
• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automated workflows to support journal entries, reporting, and data transformations.
• Apply structured problem-solving to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and increase reliability.
• Establish and promote development standards, documentation, and sustainable automation approaches.
