Job summary

Covista is seeking a Senior Financial Systems Analyst to lead technical process improvement across the Finance systems landscape, supporting Accounting and FP&A. This role owns automation, data transformation, and solution design initiatives to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability across financial processes and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Financial Systems, Finance Tech, or related technical finance support roles.
• Hands-on experience with workflow automation tools such as Alteryx or similar platforms.
• Strong SQL skills with enterprise data platforms (SQL Server, BigQuery).
• Familiarity with Lawson, IBM Planning Analytics/TM1, BlackLine, and related tools.
• Experience supporting reporting, data validation, and analytics (Power BI or similar).
• Knowledge of VBA, Python, or similar scripting languages.
• Strong understanding of Accounting and Finance processes and ability to connect business needs to technical solutions.
• Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and lead from concept to implementation.
• Strong communication, documentation, problem-solving, and stakeholder partnership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead process improvement and automation across Finance and Accounting processes.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated workflows for journal entries, reporting, reconciliations, and data transformation.
• Improve efficiency and reliability by reducing manual effort and documenting standards.
• Write, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL queries across financial systems and data sources.
• Analyze data structures and validate reporting outputs when sources are not well defined.
• Support report rebuilds, data validation, and analytics needs across Power BI and other tools.
• Maintain VBA solutions while introducing Python for data extraction, transformation, and automation.
• Evaluate AI-enabled tools to accelerate development and improve documentation.
• Translate business requests into technical designs balancing user needs and controls.
• Maintain runbooks, change logs, and documentation for operational continuity.
• Collaborate with IT, vendors, and stakeholders to resolve issues and support implementations.
• Provide backup coverage for key financial systems and processes.
