Join to apply for the Senior Financial Reporting Analyst role at Stowers Institute for Medical Research

The Stowers Institute for Medical Research has an opening for a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst. This position will prepare financial materials for internal and external stakeholders of the Stowers Group of Companies. The candidate is a member of the Accounting team and will report to the Manager of Financial Reporting.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Compiling the monthly financial package used by senior and executive management for strategic and tactical decision making.
  2. Developing financial projections and building financial models.
  3. Refining and improving current reporting and analysis in collaboration with business users.
  4. Assisting with the Institute’s annual audit by preparing PBCs, consolidated financial statements, and footnotes.
  5. Preparing schedules underlying financial statements and disclosures.
  6. Maintaining current knowledge of accounting standards and preparing accounting memos.
  7. Researching current accounting and reporting issues, trends, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.
  8. Preparing accurate and timely journal entries and account reconciliations.
  9. Submitting external surveys and ensuring data accuracy.
  10. Contributing significantly to accounting and finance technology solution project implementations.
  11. Developing and updating accounting policies and procedures.
  12. Handling various ad-hoc projects as assigned.

They should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, innovative thinking, and the ability to prioritize effectively amidst changing priorities. Attention to detail and accuracy are essential. Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • 4-6 years of corporate and/or public accounting (audit) experience, including 2-3 years in not-for-profit accounting.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial practices.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience in developing and preparing financial reports.
  • Ability to analyze data and communicate findings clearly to non-financial audiences.
  • Leases (Topic 842) accounting experience is preferred.
  • Experience with major ERP systems is preferred.
