Job description

Compensation: $125,000 base salary + uncapped AUM based compensation + comprehensive benefits

The Opportunity:

Our client is a growing, fee only wealth management firm seeking an experienced Financial Planner to join its team in San Antonio, Texas.

This opportunity is designed for someone who got into wealth management because they genuinely enjoy financial planning. There is no business development requirement. Instead, you will focus on building comprehensive financial plans, solving complex client needs, developing thoughtful recommendations, and managing meaningful client relationships.

The firm takes a highly customized approach to wealth management, bringing financial planning, investment management, and tax expertise together to help clients make informed decisions across all aspects of their financial lives.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner who enjoys getting into the details, solving problems that do not always have an obvious answer, and wants to build a long term career with a growing firm.

What You’ll Do:
  • Own and develop relationships with assigned clients
  • Build, maintain, and update comprehensive financial plans
  • Analyze complex financial situations and develop customized recommendations based on each client's individual circumstances
  • Help clients evaluate both major financial decisions and the everyday decisions that can have a meaningful long term impact
  • Evaluate cash flow, retirement, investment, tax, estate, insurance, and other financial planning considerations
  • Consider tax implications when developing and evaluating planning strategies
  • Work through financial planning questions that may not have a standardized or template based solution
  • Clearly communicate recommendations and the reasoning behind them to clients
  • Partner closely with the firm's investment, tax, planning, and client service professionals
  • Coordinate across internal teams to ensure recommendations are implemented accurately
  • Monitor client plans and proactively identify opportunities, risks, and changes that may require action
  • Maintain detailed and accurate client information and planning documentation
  • Continue developing technical financial planning expertise as client relationships and responsibilities grow
What We’re Looking For:
  • 5+ years of meaningful financial planning or wealth management experience preferred
  • Hands on experience personally building and working through comprehensive financial plans
  • Strong technical understanding of financial planning concepts and strategies
  • Ability to analyze financial situations independently and develop well reasoned recommendations
  • Understanding of tax considerations and how taxes can affect broader financial planning decisions
  • Strong client relationship and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly and confidently
  • Exceptional attention to detail and willingness to work through highly detailed planning issues
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Genuine passion for financial planning and helping clients make thoughtful financial decisions
  • Ability to work independently while thriving in a highly collaborative team environment
  • CFP® designation preferred but not required
  • Experience within a comprehensive, planning focused RIA environment preferred
  • Experience working alongside tax professionals is a plus
  • Experience with MoneyTree, Black Diamond, and Redtail is a plus
  • Ability and desire to work full time in the firm's San Antonio office
Compensation and Growth:
  • The position offers a $125,000 base salary with additional annual compensation tied directly to the amount of client assets managed.
  • Advisors earn an additional $10,000 annually for every $10 million in client assets under their responsibility.
  • As client responsibility grows, compensation grows with it, with no stated cap on the AUM based compensation.
  • The firm expects the advisor's client responsibility to grow over time and plans to add paraplanning support as the advisor reaches capacity, creating additional opportunity to expand client relationships and continue growing professionally and financially.
Why This Opportunity:
  • This is an opportunity to be an advisor without having to be a salesperson.
  • You will be able to focus on the work that draws many people to financial planning in the first place: understanding clients, solving financial problems, building thoughtful strategies, and helping people make better decisions about their financial lives.
  • You will join a growing firm with approximately $275 million in assets under management and an ambitious long term growth strategy. The team is highly collaborative, with dedicated investment, tax, and client service resources supporting the advisor and client experience.
  • The firm also places a strong emphasis on its people and culture. The San Antonio office is located on the River Walk and offers access to an onsite gym, along with team lunches and additional employee perks. Benefits include strong paid time off, paid continuing education, 401(k), health insurance, and additional insurance benefits.
  • For an experienced planner who wants meaningful client ownership, sophisticated planning work, increasing earning potential, and the opportunity to build a long term career with a growing wealth management firm, this role offers a compelling next step.
